Life is Not a Struggle!

To understand others is to have
knowledge;
To understand oneself is to be
illuminated.
To conquer others needs strength;
To conquer oneself is harder still.
To be content with what one has is
to be rich...

I cannot recall exactly where I read this quote, but I know this translation of the Tao Te Ching has stuck in my head ever since I read it. I like it because it says what many people believe. Specifically, that it is difficult to conquer oneself. Many people find that it is a struggle to "conquer" oneself, and many take pride in the struggle. I suppose that since so many people believe that life is supposed to be a struggle, that being content with what you have makes you rich. Apparently there is a choice - either struggle or be content with what you have.

But why does it have to be a struggle? Why do we have to be content with what we have? That really doesn't make any sense if you think about it. Usually when there is a struggle, it means something is wrong! Why should there be pride in always having something wrong? We have all had problems in the past, that we have attracted into our lives, whether we knew it or not. Seriously, who has not had their parents do something to "mess them up" when they were a kid? Can we blame everything on our mothers like Freud says?

I am of course being a bit facetious, but my point is, you cannot live in the past, and blame tomorrow on yesterday. Life takes effort, not a struggle. But the difference is, effort is something we do every day, all the time, and it comes naturally to us. Struggle is not. When things are not working out the way you would like, when you are struggling with something, instead of continuing to fight, make the effort to look inside and ask yourself, "Why is this happening?"

The answer to that question will always be that it is happening because you attracted it to happen. Your vibration, your thoughts, are causing the result. So how do you change it? You ask yourself questions. "Do I really want what I think I want?" "Am I in the right place here?" "Am I using negative words in my thoughts?" It seems to me that when you ask questions such as these, the answers are clear, and therefore so is the solution!

Michael Losier defines the Law of Attraction by saying that, "I attract to my life and business whatever I give my attention, energy, and focus to, whether negative or positive." The Law of Attraction does not differentiate between good or bad, negative or positive - it just responds!

The universe really is perfect. Everything that is, is for a reason. Everything is attracted by something. I can tell you that in my life, I use the Law of Attraction every day, and my life has become MUCH less of a struggle, and so much more enjoyable. Knowing that you truly are in control of your life is such a calming feeling. It is an empowering feeling as well! We don't have to "live in the wake of the boat" of our past. We really CAN control our destiny, and nothing is out of reach. Be content knowing that all you have to do is make the effort not to struggle!
