Put Down the Princess - by Bob Jung
The older of the two monks walked across the mud, picked the princess up and carried her across the puddle. As she was being put down on the other side, she gave the older monk not so much as a thank you, and went on her way.
The two monks continued on their journey, and as they did so, the younger monk got more and more angry and frustrated at the rude behavior of the princess. Finally, after several hours he could not take it any more, and exclaimed to the older monk, "That princess was so rude to you! You went out of your way to help her, went into the mud for her, carried her on your back, and she did not even say, 'thank you'! Doesn't that bother you?"
The older monk replied, "I finished carrying her hours ago, shouldn't you do the same?"
Too many of us refuse to put down the many "princesses" in our lives. Why? What is to be gained by dwelling on those that have done us wrong, or the bad things that have happened to us in the past? Absolutely nothing! In fact, the Law of Attraction states that dwelling on such things will not only prevent them from ever going away, but will in fact cause more of them to occur!
How many times have you gotten up in the morning, and had something go wrong right off the bat? It sets you in a mood, which continues to spiral downward as more and more things go wrong. Wouldn't it be great if there were some way to stop that from happening? Well there is!
The Law of Attraction says so. Break your day down into little episodes. You get out of bed. That is one episode. You brush your teeth - another episode. Make it a point to tell yourself that each thing that happens to you will be what you want it to be, and know that you can make it so. The Law of Attraction works whether you believe it or not. It is a law, and by definition it is operating all the time. Know this fact, and you can control our life beyond your wildest dreams!
For people new to Law of Attraction, however, the first, and perhaps hardest step is letting go of the past. Know that everything that has come into your life, both good and bad, has been attracted there by you. You have been practicing the Law of Attraction your entire life, you just may not have been aware of it. We all have had "negative" things happen in our lives, but those things were supposed to happen, as we attracted them into our lives.
We cannot change the past, but we must not dwell on it either. Many counsellors in programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous, state the exact opposite - that people MUST dwell on the past. Every person in AA basically wakes up every morning, looks in the mirror and says, "I am an alcoholic and I cannot change that fact." That is nonsense. The Law of Attraction says so. You are who you want yourself to be. That person may have been an alcoholic in the past, but he has to get out of the past, and move into the present.
Whatever happened to us in the past, it happened for a reason, and it happened because we attracted it to occur. Nothing can undo it. But do not carry the negative things from your past around. Don't carry the princess any longer.

Law of Attraction Blunders
After all, imagine that any level of wealth can be yours! Your life can be enriched with the most fulfilling relationships imaginable! You can spend your time doing only those things you love, and in return, experience abundance that seems impossible from the outside looking in!
However, too many people learn only the “basics” of the Law of Attraction, and as a result make 10 common mistakes that make it appear as though this universal law does not apply to them, and in fact gives them results completely OPPOSITE of what they desire.
Before going into these mistakes, let’s review what the Law of Attraction actually is. It’s deceptively simple: Energy attracts Like Energy.
Broken down a little more, this means that everything in this Universe (physical and non-physical) IS Energy that vibrates at various frequencies. And it is the nature of the vibrations of this Energy to “attract” themselves to vibrations of a similar frequency. In other words, one “cluster” of Energy attracts itself to other “clusters” of Energy in which it is in vibrational resonance.
This happens on both a very small and very large scale. For our purposes, we are talking about the very common idea that our “thoughts create our reality”.
This simple statement leads to people making the following mistakes and assumptions, because while thought IS Energy, and it DOES attract, it’s not always so straightforward.
How many of these mistakes apply to you?
1. Believing that “Positive Thinking” is enough to attract what you want.
The reality is that many people use various forms of positive thinking on a conscious level (such as affirmations), only to cancel out those thoughts on a subconscious level.
For example, telling yourself “I am lean, healthy, and energetic” when the mirror says something different, usually results in your subconscious saying, “No you’re not!!”. Further, this subconscious rebuttal is generally highly charged with emotion, and thus a very powerful attractor.
Therefore, if left unchecked, the use of affirmations can give you a very strong OPPOSITE result of those things you are affirming, because at a much stronger level of conviction, you are canceling the positive message with a negative one.
2. Asking yourself, “Well, where is it?”
People ARE impatient. When they learn about the Law of Attraction, they often have high hopes that they will simply make their lists of desires, cut out pictures, or in some other way design their reality, and then after a couple of days, weeks, or even months, they’re looking around saying, “Well?? Where is it??”.
The problem isn’t that the Universe can’t deliver quickly. The problem is that you were never REALLY vibrating in a place of trust that what your desires is yours. You are more “testing the theory”, then becoming impatient when the Universe doesn’t deliver on your time schedule.
What you may not realize realize is that from the beginning of the process, there has been resistance. There has been a lack of “allowing” in terms of how and when your desire will be fulfilled, which shows itself through your expression of impatience.
Which leads to mistake number 3:
3. Determining ahead of time, HOW and WHEN you will attract what you want.
The Law of Attraction works because and when you allow it to. The nature of the Universe is infinite. Our conscious minds are not. When we have a desire, we very often tend to “figure out” how the Universe is going to deliver - be it through our jobs, the lottery, or some other source in particular.
When you attach yourself to one particular outcome, you are cutting off an infinite (literally) number of other ways your desire can be attracted.
4. Allowing your emotions to be led by “external evidence”.
This is where people tend to give up. Because their experience of reality is different than what they are trying to attract, they allow themselves to feel frustrated, which of course, only acts to attract more of what will frustrate them.
This all starts because there is, on some level, a basic lack of trust that the Law of Attraction actually has scientific basis. Because after all, if you have TOTAL trust/faith, then your vibration will reflect that and two things will happen: 1) Your desire will come to you as quickly as possible, and 2) You literally won’t give external reality a second thought, because you’ll realize that what you’re looking at now is simply a result of what you’ve been attracting to that point, and that change is on the way provided you hold your NEW vibration consistently.
5. Not taking care of your limiting beliefs that run at a deeper level.
As mentioned earlier, you have a lifetime of limiting beliefs that have helped to create the reality that you are now trying to change. You have manifested everything around you based on these beliefs, and the feelings associated with those beliefs.
These beliefs run so deep, that you hardly consider them “beliefs”. They occur to you as just “how things are”. Further, these beliefs have very specific emotions attached to them, and chances are you can FEEL these emotions on some level every time one of these beliefs shows themselves.
How will this show up?
Let’s suppose you’re wanting to manifest a large amount of money. When you think about that, there might be a certain emotion that immediately comes up for you. This might be associated with a thought like, “I’ll never be able to attract that. It’s too much.”. This might be connected to a feeling that you don’t DESERVE that amount, or you might feel frustrated with the “bigness” of it.
Either way, these negative emotions are the very energy that is REPELLING what you want! When you learn to RELEASE those emotions, you clear the way for the Universe to deliver what you desire, whatever it is. But until and unless you eliminate the resistance, you will not be in vibrational alignment with what you desire, and thus you can NOT experience it!
There are several “releasing” methods available, such as “The Sedona Method“, and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) that can quickly and easily eliminate these energetic blocks.
These are just 5 of the more common mistakes that “newbies” to the Law of Attraction make. There are several more that we list at our web site, http://www.ActivateYourWealthToday.com, where we also delve into how to reverse these mistakes so that the Law of Attraction can become a monumentally powerful force in your life! A free multimedia “Law of Attraction” seminar is also available at the web site.

It's Easy to Earn Money
Most people spend their entire lives trading their time for money and never amass the financial fortune available to them. They never invest the time to learn the basics of how to multiply their income.
Just about everything you've been taught about how to earn money is so far from the truth that it's almost comical. Earning money has nothing to do with age, formal education, gender, or geography. It has nothing to do with past experience or your level of intellect. There are individuals who are functionally illiterate and have become multimillionaires, while there are others who are absolutely brilliant — and broke!
Virtually anyone can be taught how to earn millions of dollars and yet, the sad truth is that 97 out of every 100 people born on this planet live their entire lives and die without EVER learning how to earn money. To perpetuate this ridiculous problem, their ignorance is passed along from one generation to the next. They're not stupidly ignorant — that's not what I'm saying here — they're simply ignorant to the truths of earning money.
Our school system has been designed as an environment to enlighten young minds, to replace ignorance with understanding and thereby improve the quality of life. Our educational system has obviously been successful in many areas. However, it has woefully neglected one important subject: “How to Earn Money.”
You can actually earn a doctorate degree in Economics and have little or no knowledge of how to earn money. A lack of understanding in this area is the cause of numerous problems, since money is the medium of exchange used worldwide.
There has always been a small, select group — approximately 3% of our population — that clearly understands that prosperity consciousness is the primary cause of wealth. This group also understands that prosperity consciousness — like ignorance — is also passed down from one generation to the next.
Let's Look At “Money.” What Is It?
1. Money is a reward you receive for the service you render.
The more valuable the service, the greater your monetary reward. Thinking of ways you can be of greater service will not only help you earn more money, it will also enable you to grow intellectually and spiritually.
2. Money is just an idea.
The paper you fold and place in your purse or pocket is not money. It is paper with ink on it. It represents money, but it is not money. Money is an idea. The earning of money has nothing to do with the paper stuff. It has to do with consciousness. It has to do with spirit.
I am aware there are books that instruct you on how to manipulate the market, stocks and people ... they might even help you get money. But, let me caution you ... where there is no spiritual consciousness as to how money works ... there is no spiritual strength ... there is no lasting happiness ... and, as a result, there is no real wealth.
3. To accumulate wealth, a person must become very comfortable with the idea of money.
That may sound strange, however most people are not comfortable with the idea of money, which is why they do not have any. The cause of poverty is poverty consciousness. A poverty consciousness will cause a person to see, hear, smell, think, and feel lack and limitation.
The late Mike Todd said, "Being broke is a temporary situation. Being poor is a mental state." He was correct. There are wealthy people who lose every cent they have through a series of mistakes in judgment ... but that does not make them poor. They will have it all back in a short time because of their prosperity consciousness.
Here's How to Earn More Money
If you have any question in your mind regarding your level of consciousness with respect to money, be very honest with yourself and look at your results. Study the patterns in your life.
If you want to improve your financial position in life, focus your attention on creating a higher level of prosperity consciousness. Begin by preparing a powerful, positive affirmation and fuel it with emotion. When you do this, you are depositing this creative energy in the treasury of your subconscious mind. And, by repeating this process over and over and over again every day, it will begin to alter your mental conditioning and mentally move you in the direction you want to go.
Write it out, read it, feel it, and let it take hold of your mind.
How much money do you want? Saying “I want more money” is not good enough. Five dollars is more! How much more do you really want? Decide on a figure. Be specific. You will not seriously want more money than you are capable of earning ... however, you would be wise to remember ... you must earn it.
Now, Understand the Three Ways to Earn Money
There are just three key strategies for earning money. They are as follows:
1. Trading time for money.
By far the worst of the three income earning strategies, it is employed by approximately 96 percent of our population — doctors, lawyers, accountants, laborers, etc. This is the method by which you must continue to put in more of your time in order to make more money. When you are not working ... you are not earning.
There is an inherent problem with this strategy — saturation. You run out of time. If a person accumulates any degree of wealth employing this strategy, it will be at the expense of a life.
2. Investing money to earn money.
This strategy is used by approximately three percent of the population. The number is small for the obvious reason — very few people have any money to invest. Many people who effectively employ this strategy follow the advice of a trusted, knowledgeable advisor.
3. Leveraging yourself to earn money.
This is where you multiply your time through the efforts of others by setting up multiple sources of income. This is, without question, the very best way to increase your income.
Allow me to explain this concept a bit further. Imagine you've been a teacher for several years and have received accolades from your principal, other teachers, and parents about the creative curriculum you provide your students. As you continue to teach daily, you're simply earning money by trading your time for money, correct? But, imagine at the same time taking those curriculum lessons and creating an inexpensive website that allows you to sell your curriculum lessons to other teachers around the world. As others purchase your curriculum, you're effectively multiplying your income through the “efforts” of others.
That's LEVERAGE!
When people ask me to help them with this “leveraging” concept, I suggest they give themselves time to really think about the following:
Think of how you can do whatever you do more effectively.
Think of how you can improve the quality and quantity of service you render.
Think of how you can help people in a greater way.
Now, in the teaching example I just gave you, you were beginning to sell your own curriculum, which improves the quantity of the service you render. Perhaps, instead, you choose to actually teach the curriculum and record that in either an audio or video format that can also be purchased through the Internet. In so doing, you're multiplying the quantity of the service you render in a completely different mode.
There are countless companies and opportunities already poised to help you multiply your time as long as you're willing to look at the world differently. For example, people who wish to get their message out quickly and effectively to a global audience can turn to publishing companies, such as Nightingale-Conant, Simon & Schuster, HarperCollins and dozens more, for distribution, marketing, and access to new customers. As these publishers increase their business, they also increase their authors' incomes. This is by no means a simple task, and it is just one example that, once accomplished, will multiply your income for years to come.
What opportunities do you have to multiply your income?
What can you do in your area of expertise that will create another stream of income for you?
What can you teach ... what do you spend your free time doing that could actually become a source of income for you as you bring others into that very same hobby or activity?
What do you provide in your day-to-day service that might prove an excellent joint venture for some body else out there? Find them and approach them with your great income-leveraging idea!
Multiplying your income through the use of leverage is a strategy that wealthy people have employed since the time of the ancient Babylonians. Unfortunately, this strategy is only used by approximately one percent of our population, yet that one percent earns approximately 96 percent of all the money that is earned! See how easily YOU can become part of that one percent? Now you know how!
Here's how I would suggest you start determining your multiple streams of income: First, determine exactly how much money you want to earn. Write it down on a sheet of paper in large figures. Look at the number and tell yourself over and over again:
“This amount of money is an EFFECT. It represents a reward that I want to receive. What service can I render that would be deserving of that reward?
Then, take the total figure and divide it into multiple parts. Each part would represent a source of income. Each source of income represents a separate reward that you will receive for a service you would render.
Work on one source of income at a time. Each one should become an exciting part of your life. You see, what you are actually doing is thinking of different ways you can be of service to others.
Remember — money IS the ultimate servant. As you help others, you earn more. And, as you earn more, the more you can help others. Now that's prosperity consciousness!

Fulfill the Law of AttrACTION
Just in case you have no clue what I’m talking about, The Law of Attraction is the magnetic force that brings into your experience what you pay attention to. This is the secret that a small fraction of people have known about throughout history. It is the same force that makes people who expect things to go badly continue to have bad things happen. Those who understand how to apply this law are able to attract whatever they want into their experience, including material wealth, situations, success, and relationships.
The Secret Movie has started a movement. The idea of magnetic reality is not new. It has been expressed in various ways throughout history. However, the Law of Attraction was often relegated to the murky backwaters of “ooga-booga” thinking. Detractors would say it was all but superstitious to believe that you attract everything that happens to you. Proponents would say that you can attract everything you want by thinking of it strongly as if it has already happened.
Magnetism is a powerful force and can be harnessed for your good. But can there be too much of a good thing? Yes.
Most people fail to understand the “motor” that drives what you attract into your reality.
I am a firm believer in attraction as a spiritual, magnetic, and scientifically provable force. One of the things I like about The Secret Movie is that there are not only teachers who promote positive thinking and driving your own reality, but there are scientists who show how this law is a real force.
However, there are people who take attraction to an extreme. They decide that they can have anything if they believe hard enough, and then they sit and wait for the universe to deliver “their stuff.”
Have you ever considered what it is that makes any cell alive? Every living being can only be moving toward life or death. When you are moving toward life, you are responding to the environment, growing, and moving. When you’re moving toward death, you are reactive, static and unmoving.
How does this biological fact apply to the Law of Attraction?
Imagine that you want to have a strong, healthy body and you spend time sitting with eyes closed, dreaming about this wonderful body as if you already have it. Then you open your eyes and go to work and live your normal life.
Are you going to go from couch potato to hot pepper just by thinking of it? NO! If you think thin but eat a box of candy and don’t get your body moving, that trimline physique will not shape itself.
You already know this, don’t you?
In order to make ANYTHING in your life happen, you have to put the second half of that Law into effect. You have to take ACTION.
Do you want to create success in your business? Apply the Law of Attraction to bring what you want into your mind so that the reticular activating system will start showing you examples. Be aware of those confirmations of your growing success as you get them. Be grateful. And realize that your mind will highlight for you those little “coincidences” of what you are attracting. You will start meeting just the right person at just the right time or finding a solution to a problem or noticing the perfect opportunity to grow.
But if you just sit on your rear and go, “gee, that’s cool,” and fail to act, all this will pass you by and one day you’ll say, “That law of attraction is just a bunch of bunk.”
Here’s an experience I had this year. I am a published author with two books out and another on the way. Back in May of this year, I was reading a magazine article about writing. The perception of the struggling author got me so mad I stood up and yelled, “I will NOT be a poor author!” I refused to buy into the all-too-common idea that unless you’re a Big Name, you’ll work your fingers off for peanuts even if you’re talented.
That day, a friend sent me an email about a seminar for writing. That led me to a free teleseminar with Glenn Dietzel of www.AwakenTheAuthorWithin.com and I signed up. I knew the gift was designed to sell a program, but what harm was there in exploring. After all, that first session was free.
There was my dream laid out for me. I had indeed attracted a solution to my problem, but what good would that do me if I didn’t take action? I joined the program. Sure, I could write books, but I also understood that I needed to learn much more about sales and marketing. My future financial well-being depended on it.
Once I committed to the Entrepreneurial Authoring Program, I threw myself into it heart and soul and worked hard.
Where am I now, just seven months later? The book I co-authored during the authoring program went from conception to ebook to print book to publisher’s bestseller in just under six months. And I started mentoring for the Entrepreneurial Authoring Mastermind Mentoring Program. So now I have the wonderful task of creating my dream and helping others live theirs too.
My life-changing experience started with a decision, and a call to attract what I wanted, but it would have been nothing without action.
This magnetic law is potent beyond measure, but you have to move yourself toward life and growth. You can’t just wait for the Universal Parcel Service to deliver your stuff.
To get what you really want, you have to make it the Law of attrACTION!

The Law of Attraction in Action
Desire is a beautiful thing! It is desire that birthed this world, and it is desire that draws us together to create new life, both physically and metaphysically.
Imagine for a moment that you have a genie in a bottle, or a secret potion or wand that, that gives you the power to zap into being more of what you wish for. The truth is, it doesn’t take a genie in a bottle, a magic wand or a secret potion, although these are fun ‘reminders’ of the awesome power that we hold! We are Divine Beings!
The Bible says we are made "in the image of God" and that “what we reap we sowed.” This means we, like God, are creators! I’ve heard it said that God helps those who help themselves. We must learn how to help ourselves by co-creating, along with God, that which we desire by developing faith and applying focused thought. The best way to pray then is affirmatively, to visualize what we desire as if it is already in our experience, and to give thanks in advance, knowing that what we need and desire is available to us. To pray effectively, we pray affirmatively. A powerful prayer is one of gratitude. The more we count our blessings, the more blessings come to us. Our thoughts and prayers really do create our experiences!
Another way of saying this is to use creative visualization. Creative visualization is the technique of using our imagination to create more of what we want in life. I’ve heard some people say, “I can’t do that, I don’t visualize anything!” There is nothing woo woo about it. You are already using visualization techniques every day - every time you think about what to have for lunch or what you might want to do over the weekend, or even while remembering a special person in your life, you are using your creative imagination! Visualization is the basic creative energy of the universe, which we use constantly, whether or not we aware of it. When we aren’t aware it is called creating by default. When we are setting conscious intentions, we are deliberately co-creating with God, or the Universe.
You may have heard the saying, “Thoughts are things.” Our thoughts, beliefs and feelings are real! They are alive with the spiritual substance that makes up this world. Our thoughts are energized and powerful. Everything we experience in "reality" has its beginnings in the non-physical. Every thought we think is a seed and every time we think the same thought over again, we water that seed. When we think thoughts filled with emotion, we fertilize those thoughts. The more intense our desire, and the degree to which we believe it is possible, the more likely it is to come into our experience and the faster it will manifest. The law of the soil and the law of the mind are the same.
The world is filled with evidence that supports our beliefs. In other words, optimists are confirmed in their optimism, and pessimists are confirmed in their habits of thought also. An optimist expects things to work out somehow, and because they give their attention to what they do want with expectancy, this is what manifests in their experience. The pessimist, on the other hand, generally also creates what they habitually worry about. When pessimists learn how to alter their expectations and beliefs, they too can more deliberately create what they are wanting in life.
I truly believe that everything works towards our highest good, we just need to trust the Universal Laws working through us and use our experiences to expand our consciousness. Let’s use the Law of Attraction to make the world a more joyful and loving place!
"If you could begin to feel appreciation for the fact that desire exists and anticipation about its unfolding, rather than disappointment that it has not manifested, your energy would clear up by 95% and your manifestations would begin to flow to you so much more easily." --Abraham-Hicks

Top 10 Ways to Raise Your Consciousness
1. Forgive yourself and others.
Life is too short to hold on to regrets, grudges, miscommunications, or disappointments. Free yourself by forgiving and letting go of any negative energy you’re holding on to about yourself and/or others. There are many ways to do this. One way is to write down anything you’re ready to let go of and ceremonially tear it into small pieces and throw it away as you forgive. You may even choose to verbally forgive anyone you’ve been resenting. Either way, the process of forgiving yourself and others will result in your feeling light and free, and consequently raise your vibration.
2. Practice gratitude and appreciation.
Whatever you focus on grows. So, when you focus on every thing in your life you have to feel grateful for and all the wonderful people you appreciate, the universe hands you more to feel grateful about. It’s a wonderfully reciprocal consciousness raising process.
3. Live each day as though it were your last.
If today was your last known day in this lifetime, with what type of people would you surround yourself? What would you say to the people you care about? What personal gifts would you make sure you imparted to humanity and the earth? Live each day as if it was your last, and you will be living in a state of light, love and unconditional contribution.
4. Meditate/Pray.
You open up a direct link between yourself and the spiritual realm when you meditate and/or pray. Meditation and prayer can be used to bring you closer to your creator energy, raise your vibration, bring you peace, clarity, joy, and connection, as well assist you in experiencing a perfectly balanced state between your mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual bodies.
5. Suspend judgment.
This world is laden with judgment, irresponsibility, and finger pointing. One judges another to feel less guilty about one’s own misgivings. Judgment energy is dense, dark, and heavy. On the other hand, unconditional acceptance is light, free, and accepting. Let go of judging and criticizing yourself and others. Everyone is on a different path, and some appear to be further ahead on their path than others. Neither path is better nor worse than another. Raise your consciousness to one of acceptance.
6. View every experience as a GIFT.
If you look back at occurrences in your life, you can easily see how even the worst situations you experienced in your life ended up teaching you invaluable lessons and therefore ended up putting you in the perfect place for your continuing development. When you view every experience, the good, the bad, and the ugly as a GIFT, life flows more like a gentle, inspiring breeze.
7. Stay consciously aware of all of your thoughts and feelings.
Until you raise the consciousness of the entire human race, it is extremely easy to fall back in to all pervasive negative patterns of complaining and feeling like a victim of society and a victim of your life. To stay out of these patterns, check in with yourself your present thoughts and feelings several times a day. When you catch yourself in the Negative zone, don’t feel badly about it and beat yourself up. Simply choose to switch your consciousness to one of gratitude and positive thinking. Remain conscious.
8. Treat your physical body as your temple.
Your body is the only vehicle you’ve been given for this ride called “LIFE.” The better you care for your body by eating a healthy, balanced diet, and by implementing a regular exercise routine, and by giving your body the rest it requires, the more you will experience increased energy, vitality, joy, and freedom. Honor, love, appreciate and take extra good care of your body, and you will be raising your energy and your consciousness.
9. View the world through the eyes of a child.
Observe a baby or a young child. It won’t take you long to notice that young children are constantly totally enthralled by the process of observing and experiencing the wonder and beauty in every single thing, color, texture, and person they meet. They can’t get enough! Look at every tree, sunset, cloud, and human being as a child would and you’ll be in a constant state of wonder, joy, surprise, acceptance, and enlightenment.
10. Give LOVE, LOVE, LOVE from your heart.
It’s all about love. Do you remember the feeling of being in love for the first time? Why was it so wonderful? That’s because love is the highest vibration. Allow yourself to receive love unconditionally from others. Give love from your heart unconditionally to yourself and others, and you will experience the highest state of consciousness possible.

You Become What You Think About
Well, I suppose that every one of us is building every single day of our lives. We are all busy engaged in building our consciousness during every waking hour. We are building a structure of attitudes, actions and reactions. The building we do is invisible and silent, and consequently it is probably overlooked by most of us.
Nonetheless, it’s probably the most fundamental and most farreaching activity in our whole life, this building of our state of mind and our attitude. Every single one of us is building our consciousness all the time, although we are not even aware of it.
Hour by hour, minute by minute, we are building good, or socalled evil, failure or success, happiness or suffering into our lives by the thoughts we think the ideas that we harbor in our minds, the beliefs that we accept, the scenes, the events and the conversations that we rehearse in that hidden studio of the mind.
The actors that get into that hidden studio of your mind are those that will play out the drama of life for you. The drama of life is rehearsed in the radio studio of your mind and what appears outwardly is simply the presentation of the drama that you have rehearsed day by day, all unknowingly, building the script into your consciousness.
The building, this consciousness, this fateful edifice, upon the construction of which you are always busily engaged, is nothing less than your Self- your true SELF, your personality, your identity on this earth, your very life story as a human being, the central core of YOU, is that which you are building.
Now, if you are wise, if you are intelligent, if you exercise more common sense, you will, in the light of what you now know, build positively, and constructively. You will begin to take concern for that which finds a home in your mind. You will be concerned about the thoughts and attitudes that become the actors, rehearsing the drama of your life.
Supposing you were gong to put on a play. You wouldn’t go and find the least capable people that you could find to act in it for you, would you? Of course you wouldn’t. You would go and find the most capable actors that you could locate. Let this be so in the radio studio of your mind. Bring into your mind these actors that can do a good job – love, kindness, security, faith, courage and wisdom. Give these a home in the studio of your mind because what gets your attention, get you.
You become what you think about.

Imagination: The Most Powerful Force
Napoleon Hill, author of Think and Grow Rich, said that imagination is the most marvelous, miraculous, inconceivably powerful force the world has ever known. Before you pass him away as a crackpot, know that Mr. Hill was an advisor to two U.S. presidents, was commissioned by the great and wealthy Andrew Carnegie to teach people about making their dreams come true, and has been thanked by many of the greatest people around the world for the success he helped them achieve. People like F. W. Woolworth (founder of Woolworth’s), Woodrow Wilson (former U.S. President), George Eastman (founder of Kodak), W. M. Wrigley, JR. (Wrigley’s), and many others have used his teachings to manifest their dreams.
Imagination is the force that takes you to places you have never been.
Henry Ford relied on imagination and belief. Walt Disney said that had he not seen Disneyland in his mind, the rest of the world would not have seen it on earth. Bill Gates first imagines his products before they become actual software that we rely on. And it would serve you well to remember that many of the world’s greatest people started with nothing and built empires. They had a dream. And the universe conspired, as it always does, to let them experience their imagination. The universe always lets you experience your imagination, whatever it may be.
The Bible says ‘As a man thinketh, so shall he become’. It also says ‘Without vision we perish’.
Your mind’s images are literally the blueprint from which your world is built.
Your mind is infinite. What are your limits? What are limits, except those that you say are so? Why else would two different people have different ‘limits’?
Life is images of the mind, expressed. What this means is that Life, The Source, uses your thoughts, your mental images, as the instructions by which to create your reality in the material world. Life expresses your mental images into physical reality. To express is to make known, to state, articulate, communicate, convey. The force of Life makes known your thoughts to yourself and everyone else by forming them into experiences and objects that can be experienced, here in the physical world. You experience your own thoughts first hand, your images of your mind, so that you may know which ones are suitable and which ones are not. That is how you know yourself, that is how you experience your self, and that is how you grow. This is the supreme purpose of this physical world that we are now in. It is designed to enable you to experience your Self. It is designed to enable you to experience an idea and its effects and consequences.
Life does not select which ones of your images to express and which ones not to. How would it choose for you? It therefore expresses all of them to the extent that you have them and believe them. You have true free will. This free will is truly free because of the fact that all of it is acted upon without filtering or favoring. Free will is truly free because of the fact that it actually gets results all the time, not just some of the time, and it gets them exactly.
Your ideas, visions and dreams, whatever they may be, are the prophecies of what you shall one day become and achieve. You can predict your outer life tomorrow by looking at your inner self today. You can change your tomorrow by changing your inner self today.
As you think, there do you find yourself. You attract the people that have something to teach you in line with your thoughts, people who have something to learn from you in line with your thoughts, and you repel those who have nothing more to learn from you and give you in line with your thoughts. The same goes for places and conditions, situations and environments.
Many things influence your imagination - past fears, desires, poor mental training, lack of awareness, sub-personalities, lack of goals - any much more. But anything that influences your imagination is under your control. You can stop it simply by becoming aware of it and releasing it. And this is where awareness, consciousness, comes in as the key to clearing your mind of the debris that brings suffering to you and sabotages your success.

Abundance Will Come When You Stop Struggling
Your conditioning tells you that to gain the world you must get out there and fight for it, that you must be somebody, must impress yourself on everyone you meet. The truth is just the opposite.
Natural abundance is easy if you just release the habitual mental and emotional clenching that you do day-in and day-out. Try to feel what this would be like, to be totally loose, open and accepting of the world and everything in it. This is one of the ways you can come closer to dropping the mask of your false self and plugging in to your Higher Mind.
Some people will doubt that any of this is very practical in today's busy, complicated and stressful world. It is actually the most practical thing there is. That's because the power of the Higher Mind is the only power capable of ridding your world of its constant frustrations.
I can tell you from my own experience, and from the experience of countless others, that connecting with Higher Mind is the only practical way to live.
One of the first things that happens after you begin operating from your Higher Mind is that negative events stop happening to you. This is because the arrows that seem to rain down on us from the outside really originate in our inner selves. So, when live from the level of your Higher Mind, those "outside" problems and negative occurrences simply disappear.
To gain control of the situation outside of you, you merely need to gain control of your inner one, which you can do by lifting yourself up into your Higher Mind. Isn't that great news--not to mention being extremely practical?
Furthermore, just as negative events stop happening to one who dwells in his or her Higher Mind, so too do exterior conditions cease to thwart you from enjoying the abundance that is naturally yours. You no longer struggle and grasp to try to achieve your goals. In fact, you can drop having "goals" altogether--at least as most people understand them, and embrace that happy state of being wherein your dreams come true automatically, almost as if by magic.

Amp Up Your Power of Attraction by Making Up Your Mind
Have you made up your mind to be happy no matter what? Have you made up your mind to be in vibrant good health, to enjoy amazing prosperity, to have fabulous relationships? I think Honest Abe would agree that, in addition to being as happy as they decide to be, most folks are also as wealthy as they decide to be, as healthy as they decide to be, and as fortunate as they decide to be. As you make up your mind to be and do and have whatever you desire, in accordance with the Law of Attraction, it will be yours!
Make Up Your Mind to Make Up Your Mind. Decide to decide. Amp up your power of attraction by making up your mind. Insist on absolute happiness and paradise health and it is. Make up your mind to feel good at all times. Your firm conviction to make your life the way you want it to be will begin the process of attracting and creating your ideal life.
You are the writer, director and star of the fabulous production called YOUR Life. You can be anything you want to be. Decide what you want and allow it to happen. Nothing feels better than getting absolute clarity about what you want and then watching your life unfold just as you dreamed it would be.
You Declare How It Will Be. How do you attract what you want? Start by filling in these blanks with your wildest dreams and stating with conviction:
I AM _____________________________________
I DO ______________________________________
I HAVE ___________________________________
As you vibrate with these desires, they will inexorably appear. The Modus Operandi of a Master of the Universe is to declare how it will be, thus employing the power of a made-up mind to bring it into reality.
You Feel the Way You Decide to Feel. I remember when I realized that I have the power to feel the way I decide to feel. One evening I was preparing to meet a friend for dinner and I was not feeling particularly well. Like a thunderbolt, this empowering realization came to me – I feel the way I decide to feel. As a Master of the Universe, I decide everything, including how I feel!
Test it yourself. For example, when you’re feeling exhausted, instead of focusing on your lack of vigor, make up your mind to feel energized, rejuvenated, indefatigable. You’ll be amazed at the infusion of Energy you get from focusing on what you want. You can consciously choose how you feel or you can unconsciously feel whatever comes to you through the influence of others, the media, or your own negative self-talk. Which do you prefer?
Employ the Power of a Made-up Mind. When you make up your mind to be and do and have whatever you desire, you are on track to create health, happiness, peace, and prosperity without limit. Here’s how:
Make up your mind about what you want and ignore all the voices (both internal and external) that try to discourage you from even trying.
Make up your mind about what you want and become a vibrational match to your desire by arousing passion and enthusiasm.
Make up your mind about what you want and focus on it with the certainty that you CAN have it.
Make up you mind about what you want and trust that it’s on its way to you.
As a Master of the Universe, your life unfolds in precisely the way you decide it will unfold. You are the decision-maker, the permission giver. As you make up your mind to enjoy paradise health, fulfilling relationships, and abundance of all kinds, you are literally attracting and creating the life of your dreams.

Can Your Beliefs Change The World?
When you adopt empowering beliefs, you can change your world and even influence the whole world, too.
When Bill Gates found out that an Albuquerque company needed BASIC software to develop a personal computer, he called them up and said he would deliver what they needed. He committed himself, then took massive action. He had a belief, an irrational one, that he could invent what he had promised to deliver. Within a few weeks, he and his partner had written up the program. They made the personal computer possible. This singular belief made him a billionaire by the time he was thirty.
His belief in what was possible, despite a complete lack of evidence, changed not only his reality, but that of the entire world.
Belief-shifting can even shatter permanent and pervasive world-views.
In 1954, when Roger Bannister broke the global and historical belief that the human body could not complete the mile in under four minutes, he changed the entire world-view about what was possible. Prior to his feat, the permanent and pervasive belief was that the laws of physics and physiology limited such an endeavor. After his feat, thinking people began to question the idea of anything labeled impossible.
After he broke the four-minute barrier, amazing things started to happen. Within a year, 37 other runners had done the same. The next year, 300 runners did it. The impossible suddenly appeared possible.
Beliefs are not necessarily true nor false, because evidence can always be marshaled in either direction. When we have experiences, both pleasurable and painful, we create generalizations on what they mean, and these then form beliefs. Yet, it is our interpretation of the experience that determined the meaning we got from it, and that, in turn influenced the generalizations that went to shape our beliefs. Someone else could have had a similar experience and interpreted it in a completely different way. In a war, one person could see all human life as worthless; another could see the sacred element in all human life; yet both are witnessing and suffering through the same carnage.
The important thing, then, is not to focus on whether a belief is true or false, but to focus on whether it is empowering or disempowering.
Here is an example:
When Marva Collins was a teacher of second-grade students in what was considered the ghetto of Chicago, she made the observation that her students did not like to learn. In fact, they actively resisted the process of expanding their little minds. This observation was in line with what the other teachers also experienced. However, her interpretation of the situation was completely different. The school district viewed the children and the neighborhood as the cause of this antipathy toward learning. Marva saw it as the result of an archaic and unstimulating learning curriculum.
She began to teach children as young as four-year-old, classic works of literature like Shakespeare. Since this upset the Chicago city school system, she had to form her own school to carry out her own curriculum. She founded a private school called Westside Preparatory School. To everyone's surprise, her young students thrived on this challenging and demanding work. Instead of becoming confused and inarticulate, their thoughts became more lucid and expressive. They became versed in the literature of ancient Greek, the revolutionary ideas of Leo Tolstoy and John Steinbeck, and other works that American culture usually reserves for college Freshmen.
Literally anything is possible for you--if you believe in it. All you have to do is believe. The act of belief will create the means to carry out your plans. The process of consistent belief will furnish the evidence to prove your belief as true. When your beliefs become a conviction, then you will move heaven and earth to achieve your objectives. And nothing and no-one can stop you.

Consulting Your Soul
As the companions in my car semi-scolded me for being a sucker and for enabling him to continue to be a beggar I thought of some words of Mother Teresa. "You see, in the final analysis, it is all between you and God, it was never between you and them anyway." Truly this was not between me and my friends in the car, nor was it between that homeless man and me. It was between God and me. Something inside of me urged me to extend love and a little cash to the man and his dog. That "something" was a fleeting moment of consulting my soul.
To me, spiritual and physical are not two separate dimensions of reality. I think of spiritual practice as a way of making my life work at a higher level and receiving guidance for handling my problems. The ways in which I do this involve a few simple, basic practices:
Surrender is the most crucial and perhaps most difficult for me. In surrendering, my thoughts are something like this: I simply do not know how to resolve this situation and I am turning it over to the same force that I turn my physical body over to every night when I go to sleep. I trust in this unseen part of me to keep my heart beating, my blood circulating, and so on.
Accessing spiritual solutions means converting my inner thoughts and feelings from discord and disharmony to love. In the spirit of surrender and love I silently chant, "I invite the highest good for all concerned to be here now." I try to see anger, hatred and disharmony as invitations to surrender and love. With this understanding I have the option to allow spirit to manifest and work through me. I believe my spirit is inseparable from the infinite. Having a relationship with the infinite part of myself encourages my recognition of spiritual solutions. The awareness of my infinite nature is terrific for putting everything into perspective.
My approach to problem-solving involves cultivating an empty mind. In this space I listen, and allow myself to have complete faith that I will be guided in the direction of resolution. I let go of my ideas about how something should be resolved.
Finding spiritual solutions to my life's problems always involves generosity and gratefulness. For me, this means giving my life to my soul purpose and being grateful for the opportunity to do so. I believe that I get back from the world what I put out to the world, not only physically but also in terms of my thoughts. So, I recommend spiritual practices that involve being generous and grateful with thoughts as well as actions.
Nurturing a sense of connectedness to everyone and everything invites spiritual solutions. When I see myself as connected I am not looking for occasions to be offended or to judge. I don't see anyone as my enemy or an obstacle. This is how I relinquish negative self-talk and connect to the solutions that are available to me. In moments of despair I try to affirm, "I see nothing, I hear nothing, I know nothing that is separate from me."
Finally I choose cheerfulness as a gauge of my level of spiritual consciousness at any given moment. The more cheerful, happy, contented, and satisfied I am feeling, the more aware I am of my connection to spirit. So, does all this mean I'm suggesting that you always give money to people who ask for it? No. But I am suggesting that the next time you see someone asking for money, look at that situation as being between you and your spiritual consciousness - between you and God. Consult your soul and if you feel that you don't want to give, don't. But rather than letting anger or judgment rule the moment, offer that person a silent blessing from the part of you that is a part of him. This is consulting your soul.

Attraction Tools for Success: Manifesting Your Intentions
It’s one thing to read and learn about these concepts, but it’s another thing to experience them. One of the most profound experiences that made a true believer out of me was on a trip to Hawaii with my husband and mother during the Christmas season. It was Christmas Eve afternoon and we were driving back to our resort – a timeshare in the middle of no-where on the Big Island surrounded by black, hardened lava. As we made our way up the now familiar, winding road that was almost ½ an hour from the nearest city, I expressed my desire to go to a Christmas Eve service. Something I had been thinking about all week. I was not a regular churchgoer, but It never seemed like Christmas to me, unless I attend and sing carols at a candlelight service. By this time I expressed my wish, it was 5pm and our chauffer (my husband) wasn’t really in the mood to drive back to town in search of a church.
Just as we came to the top of the hill, ½ a block from our condo (if you could call it a block since there was next to nothing surrounding the resort.) There was a little sign along the edge of the highway “Center for Positive Living, Christmas Eve Service, 7pm, All Welcome.” This in itself was a miracle – as we had passed this stretch that very morning and numerous times before – and there was no indication of a sign or even a building! In addition and to my amazement, the name of the ‘center’ was the exact name of a church in our hometown that we had been meaning to attend for several months – but had never quite made it. Of course, we attended the service and it was abundant with carols and gifts, and it proved to be the most enjoyable service that I have ever attended.
For me, this experience solidified the power of thought. Since then, I have been playing with this idea and believe there is nothing that I can’t manifest. Of course, through my travels I have learned a few ways to assist the process of manifestation along the way.
Thoughts
Thoughts are the key to manifesting. Not only do I try to think positive thoughts, I also try to eliminate negative thoughts or self-talk. This isn’t always the easiest thing to do, but it got easier. The more I stuck to it, the more my life was blessed with positive things and the easier it became, and the easier it was, the more positive things that were manifested and so on.
Not only did I manifest positive things, but also I manifested what I was intending. Sometimes the manifestation didn’t always appear as fast or exactly as I wanted, but, then again, sometimes the universe knows best (but that’s another story.)
Affirmations
Most people have heard or used affirmations. Affirmations are just statements of a thought or intention. By stating your intentions concretely you send the message to the universe that you already have that which you want to attract. At first, I found affirmations a bit hokey, because in the back of my mind I was thinking, “this isn’t true”, but of course, if the statements were already true (in reality) I wouldn’t need to do affirmations about them. Our mind has no distinction between reality and fantasy, so by stating our thoughts it changes their existence from inside (the mind) to outside (reality).
Some additional tips in formulating affirmations:
State them as if they were already true (even if you believe otherwise)
State them in present tense. Include your name in the statement, for example:
I, Kimberly, am …
State each affirmation at least 3 times. Once to say it, once to hear it, and lastly to integrate it.
State your affirmations often. After waking up or before going to bed is the best time of day, although you can state them anytime throughout the day if you need a reminder or pick-me-up.
Say them out loud. Put them on a tape recorder or paste them to your mirror so you hear/see them frequently.
Focus on a feeling, rather than material/physical objects. This leaves the ‘what’ up to the universe and often the results you intend to achieve are far greater than you could ever envision yourself.
For example: I, Kimberly, feel peace within, at all times.
Intention Map
Turn your affirmations into pictures. Gather pictures, photographs, and words of things you want to manifest in your life and place them on a piece of Bristol or on a bulletin board. Hang them where you will see them everyday. Look at them frequently and imagine yourself there.
Visualizations & Meditation
Turn your affirmations or intention maps into visualizations in your mind. Imagine that the intention is already true and you are living the life you dream of. Visualize the intention and release it into the universe to be manifested.
Now that you have several tools you can use to manifest your desires, here is the trick. There can be no attachment to having the intention manifested. Of course, it’s a given that you want this intention, otherwise you wouldn’t have thought about it. However, you can’t be attached to the result or be fixated on it happening. You have to believe it as if it were true and possible, but leave it to the universe to decide the details: when, where, how, etc. and let it come to you when the time is right. Remember everything happens for a reason.
Once you have mastered this, everything is in your reach. Don’t just dream about the life you want: manifest it into reality!

When You Attract Negative People, Be Thankful
Instead of focusing on not trying to attract them. Be thankful you are.
Okay, you say, that might be pushing it a little. Not really. You see, whatever you are attracting is giving you a clear projection of the energy that you are giving off. Or it could be something that you need to heal first in order to clear your energy. Most times, we could not see how we are radiating without this attraction.
The answer is awareness. The key is seeing it quickly so that their negative energy doesn't change or shift your energy and pull you down along with it. However, it’s best not to leave until you have a sense of what is showing up. Yet, sometimes, that isn't possible until hindsight mode.
An excellent example of this occurred to me just this week. A quick background in case you don't know me -- I'm very careful of my energy and have practiced the laws. I am also a master practitioner and move with the laws 24/7 which took years to master. Something I'm very proud of and very aware of.
Well, anyway, moving forward to the illustration.
Eating dinner at my favorite restaurant, sitting there writing after a good meal, just finished a marketing story for one of my syndicated columns. Before leaving I thought I would duck into the ladies room. I was sitting on the john -- oops, maybe too much information (TMI) -- when I heard this lady talking to me from the other stall. Actually feeling awkward and caught unaware, it took a few minutes before I could really make out what she was saying. By then, I was walking towards the sink to wash my hands. It wasn't until then did I get the gist of her story, language and negativity. It was a victim story about how the world is out to get her. Let me spare you the details. I know you've heard this before and can easily relate to the energy heaviness created in the room.
I smiled and commented about I enjoy coming to the restaurant. She was too much into her story to hear anything but herself. Yet, she wasn't even hearing herself, I believe. She followed me back to my table and stood over me as I sat down. A few more minutes of this and trying to ignore her and because I was ready to leave anyway, I got up to leave. She walked back to her table and sat. This time I walked to her table and towered over her.
I continued to listen, not getting a word in edge wise for another five minutes or so. I smiled and nodded sideways repeatedly in disagreement. She never paid attention. Finally, I held up my hand in a stop-sign format. This caused a pause. With a deep sigh of thank goodness, I remarked, "I've listened to your story and would like to share with you -- you are attracting exactly what you don't want because that is exactly what you want. Everything that has occurred has been what you have asked for. If you want to change what you are attracting, start by seeing and making new choices. This and only this will change what occurs in your life."
As you suspect, and probably have already experienced yourself, she didn't even hear the message. She continued right back into her story. My immediate and last comment was, "I hope you have a wonderful life and sometime soon learn to see that you're choices are what you are attracting." Not waiting for a response, I quickly turned and left the restaurant.
As I sat in the car, I asked myself, how in the heck did I attract this energy? And in the ladies room of all places? I wasn't radiating anything negative, was I? The answer from the universe arrived immediately. It directed me towards my story that I wrote. When rereading, my attention was drawn to the number of "don'ts" in the article. They were every other sentence it seemed. Then I turned to other articles I had written at earlier in my notebook. The "don'ts" were many. Embarrassingly many.
Tracing my thoughts to when my energy had changed, I realized that it shifted when I started reading other people’s ezines that I brought along. I saw it as clearly as the sun rising on this morning’s horizon. All the don'ts that people were writing in order to try to sell their products or services. My energy level began to shift with the reading. It continued to spiral into my writing. Their attraction to the negative words moved into my use of negative words. How this and that was hard...finding the target market was hard...and the list went on.
This in turn created me to write in that same tone. My lesson -- be fully aware of what I was reading and its influence on my energy and my writing. As I look back, I see patterns of where this occurred more than once. And as I continue to trace further, I also remember what I was reading.
If it wasn't for this experience, this negative encounter, I may not have seen this at all. I like to think I would have seen it anyway but in reality, probably not.
Yes, yes, yes. I do wish I had caught it earlier. But let’s not go there, huh. That will zap the energy of this story for sure.
The point is, be glad negative people are being attracted to you. Be aware of their appearance. Ask what is radiating from you that attracted them. Be the fly zapper at a picnic and ask why your light was on that attracted the fly. See any patterns and quickly make any adjustments.
Rest assuredly, that when you are no longer radiating negative energy, you will not attract those negative experiences or people. I promise this to you based on experience.
I also always recommend that you share your experience, through writing, speaking engagements, or just with friends and family. There are three people waiting to listen and learn from the valuable lesson.

An Interview With Jack Canfield - The Success Principles
The Success Principles
Interview with Jack Canfield
with Jason Vosu
Better Life Media News
The Most Important Principles
BLM: Is it possible to pick out what you think are the most important two or three principles?
JC: Well I think that if you could only have eight or nine or ten, the subtitle of my book is "How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to be," so you have to know where you want to be. What's your outcome? What's the goal? Where do you want to end up five years from now or one year from now or ten years from now? People have to define their vision and most people have never really sat down to do that. Most people spend more time planning their summer vacation than they do planning their life. It's very important to do that.
And then, it's important to believe it's possible. Most people think, well yeah, being a millionaire's possible for someone else, but is it really possible for me? And so you have to confront those inner beliefs that "I'm not enough," that, "I can't have it," that, "Life is hard," all that kind of stuff that many people grew up with or made decisions about when they were very young.
And then you've got to create a plan for how you're going to get there. Now the plan doesn't always work out, meaning that how you get there is very different than you planned; you may get there faster when some other thing occurs and you say, "Oh, that was lucky," but the luck comes from having a plan and then from taking action on that plan.
And then I think it's critical to spend a few minutes every day visualizing each of your goals as already complete. That actually programs the sub-conscious mind to come forward with more creative ideas; it actually opens up your doors of perception to see more resources that have always been there that you're not perceiving at the moment, and it also motivates you to take action. It also creates something called the Law of Attraction, which is that it will magnetize people and resources to come toward you. That's what most people call luck, but now through quantum-physics, we're beginning to see that we live in a super-consciousness that quantum-physicists call the Quantum Field, and that our thoughts actually create wave-forms that effect that field, and that create manifestations of things and events and so-forth.
So the next couple of steps is simply that you've got to take action. You're going to get inspired, thoughts inspire impulses to act. You've got to take action. Then you have to respond to feedback because your actions aren't going to work. You have to be open, not resistant to feedback. In fact you should solicit feedback. Then you should persevere in the face of obstacles. If you do just those things, that's kind of a blueprint for success, and then everything else added on are nuances of those which really help you make better relationships, and have greater health, greater financial wealth, etc.
What is the Brain's Reticular Activating System and How Can it Help Me Achieve My Goals?
BLM: When you said that there's a part of your brain that is activated, are you talking about the "Reticular Activating System?"
JC: Exactly. There's a part of your brain that acts like a filter. Like right now people listening to this are not aware of what they're feeling in their right foot, but as soon as I say "right foot," the filter that was filtering that out opens up and allows it in because it came into consciousness.
So when we set a goal, it opens up our hearing and our seeing to notice things that before were being filtered out because they were unimportant. Like when you read through the newspaper, most people don't realize there's ads every single day for appliances. You go right by them because you don't need an appliance; you don't see them. But the day your refrigerator breaks, you think there's about five sales going on in town because there are all these ads for refrigerators and stoves. The fact is they were always there, you just didn't see them. We call that a "scotoma." It's a blind spot. So by focusing clearly on what you want, it opens up that reticular system to let in more perception of the resources that could help you achieve your goals.
BLM: When you open up that reticular system, obviously there's an internal element that's happening within me. I don't want to get too ethereal here, but is there something, energy-wise, that's also going to be operating with external forces as well?
JC: Yeah, think of it this way: Every thought you think sends out a waveform. We've all used a wireless telephone and we've all used Blackberry's and Wi-Fi on our computers and so-forth. And so what happens is: How is that possible? Well it's sending out a wave, which is a curve. It has amplitude, which means how high up does it go, and frequency which is how wide apart are the little curves? By coding and decoding those, we can send information. Well when you think a thought, it's sending out a wave similarly.
We know that these waves can go at least a quarter of a million miles, which is the distance to the moon because we've done experiments with astronauts using this and found that we can pick up thought-forms. That was done at Duke University. Dr. Masaru Emoto from Japan has proven it by taking water samples in the United States the day before and the day after ... he does this experiment by having 10,000 Japanese send love and gratitude to the water all around the world. And the crystaline structure of the water actually changes from one day to the next, based on this - it's very scientific - and we know that our thought-forms are affecting water, and our bodies are made up of 70-80% water.
When we think a thought - a friend of mine, Bob Scheinfeld coined a term "the inner net" as opposed to "the internet." And so it's a way we're communicating through that quantum field the physicists talk about, to other people. So it's like we're sending out an email to everyone on the planet saying, "Hey, I wanna solve this problem with hunger," or "I wanna build a hospital for people in Nairobi," or "I want to be a millionaire through selling books," whatever it might be. And people that are aligned with that, who would be served by assisting or participating or benefiting from that, they will literally be attracted to you and they won't even know why.
BLM: How does a person go about actually interpreting a thought?
JC: If you're being influenced by other people's thoughts, which you always are -- if you walk in the house and your wife's upset, you can feel it. If your son is in danger, I mean, women report waking up in the middle of the night at three in the morning and then they'll find out the next day, that's when their daughter had an automobile crash - we feel it. Perhaps the hair on our neck will stand up, or we'll have an impulse to maybe -- I mean everyone's had this experience where you're sitting there at your desk, and all of a sudden you start thinking about an old college roommate you haven't talked to in ten years, and then five minutes later the phone rings and it's that old college roommate. Either you were thinking about them and that made them call you, or they were thinking about calling you and you picked it up - no one's quite sure which it is - but the point being that we do know that we are in fact influencing each other. The main thing is to just, when you have intuitions, to call somebody, to write a letter, to go down to the mall, stop in and see old Bill, to maybe start this new business, whatever it might be, trust those and act on them because they are intuitions coming up into consciousness.
If I Want to be Rich, Should I Hang Out with Other Rich People?
BLM: You say that if you want to make $200,000, you should hang out with people who make $200,000. What is the biggest difference between someone who makes $200,000 and someone who makes $50,000?
JC: Well the difference is there's several things. One, you've got to be playing a game where that kind of money can be made; you're not going to make that as an elementary school teacher in the state of Illinois. That's just something you have to confront -- that certain professions have the potential to make more money than others.
Now we have the option of making money through investments. Teachers could be doing a multi-level marketing, selling Amway or something in the evenings, so there are other ways to generate funds -- money you could inherit, you could win the lottery, but the main thing is that you want to have the thought-form that, "This is something I want." You want to have the goal and the vision. And then you want to say, "What would it take for me to do that?" and then find out people who are already generating that kind of income, preferably in the field that you're in, if you want to stay in that field, and then ask them, what is it that they're doing to generate that?
Mark Victor Hanson is the co-author on all my "Chicken Soup for the Soul" books. We put on, together, every year, these mega-speaker events, mega-booklet or events where we bring in people and we show them how, the average American writer makes $14, 000 to 15,000 a year on their writing. Mark and I make several million dollars a year, and we're not all that extraordinary. I graduated from the half of the class in college that made the top half possible, so it's not about like having the higher IQ. It's about understanding the principles and applying them. In the area of publishing, let's say, you've got to be doing massive marketing. Most writers want to write, and they tend to be more reclusive, and they don't want to be that commercial, but if you don't go out and promote your book, go online, have a website, do affiliate marketing campaigns with other people, do at least one radio interview every day ... Scott Peck who had the best-selling book ever in America, "The Road Less Traveled," it was on the New York Best Seller List for twelve years; he did three interviews a day, every day, for the first year. One interview a day, every day for the next twelve years, and that's what kept that book up there, so the word of mouth kept growing, more people would tell more people, more people would hear about it on the radio, and so-forth.
So you've got to be willing to do what Mark and I call "The Rule of Five." Every day do five specific actions to forward your number one goal. Well most people are walking around - they don't even have goals! Ten percent of Americans have goals written down for the year. I mean, 90% don't, and the 90% are working for the ten percent who do. And so basically you want to make sure that you have goals, and one of the goals should be the income level you want and you find people who are already doing that. Find ways to hang out with them. One of the things I did was, there was a guy who was doing audio training, and he was making about $8 million a year and I was making about $400,000 at the time, and I called him up and I said, "Look, if you're ever in L.A., instead of hiring a limo service to do your speech or whatever you're doing, just call my office; I'll be your chauffer for the day or two days or three days, I don't care what it is, as long as I'm in town. All I'd like to do is be able to pick your brain while you're here." He said, "Great idea." So the next time he came, about three months later, I got to be his chauffer, I picked his brain, and it was only a couple years later that we actually competed for a contract together - it was a $750,000 training contract for the LA County Office of Education -- we were the two finalists, and I won. Kind of embarrassing, actually, I felt a little strange about it, he was my mentor, but he called me up, very, very sweet and said congratulations.
How Can Failure Lead to Success?
BLM:Do you think a person is more driven to succeed after they've had a particularly harsh rejection? In other words, can you achieve success without being rejected?
JC:I don't know anyone who's gotten to the top without having gone through some sort of rejection. You know, the classic stories of them, like Rudy Ruettiger the football player that walked on to Notre Dame, you know, we all know those stories, and they really inspire us because they all speak to something that's really a part of the human condition. I think the other aspect that, you know, I have met people; their first book got accepted by a publisher. It's rare, but for most of us, we're gonna be rejected. I remember speaking at the University of Michigan and asking the Ph.D. Candidates in the school of education, why they decided to become a teacher, and I think about a third of them said, because someone told them they couldn't do it, that they would never be able to get a doctorate. And so they simply said, you know, I'm gonna stick with this, and make a commitment just to prove them wrong.
Certain personalities, rejection can strengthen your result; other personalities, they give up after a few rejections. I teach people that rejection is really not reality. It's something we make up in our mind, because what I say is that if you apply to Harvard and you didn't get in, you're not in Harvard before you applied, you're not in Harvard after you applied. And you can live with that, because you've been living your whole life with that.
And if I ask you to have lunch with me and you say no, I didn't have anyone to eat lunch with before I asked you and I didn't have anyone to eat lunch with after I asked you. The mistake people make is they assign meaning to the event. And the meaning they assign are things like, "nobody likes me," "I'm not talented," "this will never work," "I can't do it," "life's too hard," etc. and it's the meaning that stops you. It's the beliefs you create based on the experience. Experiences are meaningless, it's the belief we assign to them, but unfortunately, we assign, you know, those kind of negative beliefs, to events that happen to us when we are children, and now we keep repeating, without reviewing them, and we keep assigning the same belief over and over to new events when they totally don't apply.
Making of the Success Principles Book
Better Life Media: How is your new book going, "The Success Principles?"
Jack Canfield: "The Success Principles" is doing very, very well. It's now in about 12 languages; it's sold close to 300,000 copies in the United States. You know, I'm getting requests constantly, to go to other countries and speak. I just got a request to go to the Dominican Republic. I've been to Greece, to India, to Korea. I'm going in two weeks to Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and also to Vietnam to speak about it.
BLM: Is there something particular about the message of this book that is driving this foreign interest?
JC: I think what's capturing people is that it's really kind of a success Bible all in one book. I attempted to take 35 years of my life and put it into one document that was, say, OK, if you really wanted to have one manual that would say, here is how I get from where I am to where I want to be, this is everything you need to know. There are 64 principles in that book and I open with a comment that life is like a combination lock, and that most people don't really have all the numbers for the combination, so they're working real hard on the numbers they have but the lock still doesn't open. Once you have the right combination, it doesn't matter if you're black or white, young or old, male or female, you live in America or live in Asia; the lock has to open for you.
BLM: What does one actually expect when they finally find the right combination?
JC: I think what one can expect when one finds the right combination is fulfillment in what I call the 7 major areas of your life, which are financial, job and career, relationship, health and fitness, free time and recreation, and then what I call personal, which is learning goals, spiritual goals, emotional goals, and then finally contribution; leaving some kind of a legacy, making a contribution to your community through philanthropy, volunteerism, and so forth.
BLM: Now as far as the foreign interest goes, you're going to be doing a lot of international traveling. Is there something about the message that translates really well overseas and then maybe not so well? What are the differences between the message here in the United States, or in a Western Culture, as opposed to over there in Asia. Are the messages taken in a different way, or are they pretty much the same across cultures?
JC: I'd say across cultures it's pretty much the same. The same principles work; you're clear about your purpose, if you set goals, if you have a clear vision, if you visualize your goals complete, if you take action, if you respond to feedback, if you persevere in the face of obstacles, if you build relationships, if you are appreciative, you know we could go down the list.
Those principles work in every culture. Some cultures are more competitive than others. India is getting there, but they've been more cooperative, more community-based. If you go up into Norway, Sweden, Finland, into the Soviet block, you find they're more community-oriented, more cooperative, and that's why communism came out of socialism, and why they're more interested in the community. Where as in the West, we're more interested in individual achievements. We do have to be aware of sub-cultural differences, but I was just in the Cameroon in Africa a few months ago, teaching down there, and everyone was just eating it up because so much of what we take for granted in the United States, people in other countries have hardly been exposed to.
BLM:Have you always had this big of an audience overseas, or is this new book really creating some new openings for you?
JC:I've always had a great audience for the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" books overseas -- we're in 44 languages, over 115 million copies sold worldwide now -- but that's not enough of a drive to invite me to come overseas, just to listen to inspiring stories; people are looking for something more in-depth when they want to pay the fees for airfare and hotels -- what with your consulting fees are and everything -- so this book has opened that up to a much greater level, in terms of actually being invited to speak.
BLM: Now I did hear a previous interview with you and somebody had asked you about the 64 principles in this book. You had made some comment about, well, you're gonna need more than eight; some people have seven, some people have four, you know you really need more than that. So I guess you chose 64. Is there a particular reason why you chose 64?
JC: That's the limit of the amount of pages my publisher gave me. I had had 1,000 pages. There are more principles. When I had sat down to outline the book -- I was in my den one morning with my laptop on a Saturday morning with my son sitting next to me. He was watching TV and I was working -- I was kind of reviewing my life and what principles had actually worked for me, and what principles I'd been teaching, and what principles did I know just from the literature. I've read over 3,000 books, taken hundreds and hundreds of seminars, on what seemed to be the universal principles and when I finished, I had 105. Obviously that was too many.
And then when I wrote the book, I had about 84 when I was finished. Originally I was going to make the chapters much shorter. And they ended up being longer, just took longer to make the point, to illustrate it than I thought it would. I was with my editor and the publisher said, "You've got to cut this out." It was like killing your own children, you know? It was, how many can you fit on the lifeboat or something. It was very difficult. But I've been putting those other principles in my e-zine and in my newsletters that I send out, so, we're sharing them.

Life is Not a Struggle!
knowledge;
To understand oneself is to be
illuminated.
To conquer others needs strength;
To conquer oneself is harder still.
To be content with what one has is
to be rich...
But why does it have to be a struggle? Why do we have to be content with what we have? That really doesn't make any sense if you think about it. Usually when there is a struggle, it means something is wrong! Why should there be pride in always having something wrong? We have all had problems in the past, that we have attracted into our lives, whether we knew it or not. Seriously, who has not had their parents do something to "mess them up" when they were a kid? Can we blame everything on our mothers like Freud says?
I am of course being a bit facetious, but my point is, you cannot live in the past, and blame tomorrow on yesterday. Life takes effort, not a struggle. But the difference is, effort is something we do every day, all the time, and it comes naturally to us. Struggle is not. When things are not working out the way you would like, when you are struggling with something, instead of continuing to fight, make the effort to look inside and ask yourself, "Why is this happening?"
The answer to that question will always be that it is happening because you attracted it to happen. Your vibration, your thoughts, are causing the result. So how do you change it? You ask yourself questions. "Do I really want what I think I want?" "Am I in the right place here?" "Am I using negative words in my thoughts?" It seems to me that when you ask questions such as these, the answers are clear, and therefore so is the solution!
Michael Losier defines the Law of Attraction by saying that, "I attract to my life and business whatever I give my attention, energy, and focus to, whether negative or positive." The Law of Attraction does not differentiate between good or bad, negative or positive - it just responds!
The universe really is perfect. Everything that is, is for a reason. Everything is attracted by something. I can tell you that in my life, I use the Law of Attraction every day, and my life has become MUCH less of a struggle, and so much more enjoyable. Knowing that you truly are in control of your life is such a calming feeling. It is an empowering feeling as well! We don't have to "live in the wake of the boat" of our past. We really CAN control our destiny, and nothing is out of reach. Be content knowing that all you have to do is make the effort not to struggle!
